PotAGold Golden Retrievers is a small, family-based hobby breeder located in beautiful Michigan. Our story began in 1980 with my mother, Patty Potter, and her beloved first Golden, Gold Country's Summer Love "Summer". Summer was more than just a cherished companion-she became the foundation of our breeding program, producing multiple champions including CH PotAGold Head of Th' Class "Murhpy" and CH PotAGold Step Aside Please "Chase", a Dog Show Hall of Fame and two-time Award of Merit winner at Madison Square Garden.
Our lines carry Summer's legacy of loving, intelligent temperaments and sound conformation-traits we've proudly preserved and regained over generations. From an early age, I was part of this journey, stepping into the show ring at just five years old, inspired by the love of the breed my mom passed down to me.
At PotAGold, our mission is to uphold the Golden Retriever breed standard with a focus on health, temperament, and beauty. All of our dogs have full health clearances-including hips, elbows, heart, and eyes-certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) before they are ever considered for breeding.
Our puppies are raised in our home, surrounded by everyday life, giving the early socialization and a strong foundation for loving family homes.
